Professor Sarah Hawkes is the Principal Investigator of the SELMA project. Professor Hawkes is also Director of the UCL Centre for Gender and Global Health, Co-Director of Global Health 50/50 and Co-Chair of the Lancet Commission on Gender and Global Health.

Professor Fauziah Rabbani, MBBS, MPH, FCPS, FRCP, PhD

Professor Fauziah Rabbani is the Principal Collaborator and Lead Pl of the SELMA project in Pakistan. She is also Noordin M. Thobani Professor & Associate Vice Provost Research & Graduate Studies at Aga Khan University (AKU-Global). In this capacity, Dr. Rabbani leads both health & social sciences research administration across all multi-country geographies where AKU operates.

Dr. Aysha Zahidie, MBBS, FCPS

Dr Aysha Zahidie is the consultant policy analyst SELMA project in Pakistan. Assistant professor and medical educationist at Fazaia Ruth Pfau Medical College (FRPMC), Karachi, she has research interest in health systems and policy research with a large number of publications in national and international journals.

Najam Hassan

Najam Hassan is a Mass Communication graduate with a major in film and production from NUST Islamabad. Najam’s expertise lies in documentary style storytelling. He is interested in social and cultural issues faced by youth in South Asian countries like Pakistan and particularly related to identity politics and power dynamics. Currently he works as a Videographer at the Centre for Arts-based Methodologies and Wellbeing, an initiative of PHC Global and uses all his free-time playing with his new drone camera and capturing bird-eye views of whatever he is interested in on ground.

Beenish Sarfaraz

Beenish Sarfaraz, who was originally trained as a Communication Designer from Visual Studies, Karachi University, uses her multimedia practice to explore the concept of human creativity and expression. She’s interested in psychology, myth-making, storytelling, nature, meditative practices and what makes a life worthwhile. Currently, she’s a faculty member at Visual Studies, Karachi University and Communication Associate at Centre of Arts-based Methodologies & Wellbeing, an initiative of PHC Global

Luluwa Lokhandwala

Luluwa Lokhandwala born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1996, completed her Bachelors in Communication and Design from Habib University in 2021. She is a research-based artist and an illustrator by profession. Her work engages with contemporary, experimental art practices, but it is rooted within research and traditional art practices. Her method involves diving into academic research while also allowing space to immerse in traditional art and craftsmanship practices. Her work centres around concepts like spirituality, ethnicity, and feminism, and it unfolds in the process of its creation - in the research, documentation, learning, and archiving.

Mahnoor Mahboob

Mahnoor Mahboob is a Karachi based photojournalist and illustrator who's recently completed her Bachelors in Communication and Design from Habib University. Her work is mostly research-based that delves into how an individual manoeuvres with their identity and emotion. She's comprehensively worked on gender conformity and identification alongside visual documentation of emotional expression of nostalgia and companionship. She mostly likes to capture people in their natural element encapsulating their raw and unfiltered emotions as she believes that's what makes the ordinary seem remarkable.

Shabbir Mohammad

Shabbir Mohammad is a Writer and Visual Artist with a degree in Communication and Design from Habib University. He is a multimedia artist who works with mediums like video, photography, soundscapes, animation and illustration to tell his stories. His written works have been published in the Arzu Anthology which was released and presented at the Karachi Literary Festival. Shabbir is also fascinated by the relationship Karachiites have with the parks in the city and has two art books ‘Park Hour’ and ‘Khayali Karachi’ on the subject.

Hussain Ahmed Shaikh

Hussain Ahmed Shaikh is a Pakistani illustrator and storyteller who is keen in exploring the limits of emotional affect through visual storytelling and experiences. His greatest achievement was the creation of the Pakistani original animated short film - "Where the Sunset Weeps" - which ventures into the tale of Karachi's socio-political tribulations through hyper fantasy elements.

Sufyan Sheikh

Sufyan Sheikh is a Hyderabad based comic artist. He works with ink and digital mediums and is interested in presenting art in a sequential form. His work is focused on capturing the stories of people who are underrepresented and then presenting them in a western comics-inspired format.

Xueh Magrini

Xueh Magrini Troll aka Xuehka belongs to the third generation of women artists in her family. Drawing is her way of understand the world and discover herself. She was born in Bogotá, Colombia, studied illustration in Madrid and visual communication in Berlin, where she now works and lives.

Amna Mawaz Khan

Amna Mawaz Khan is a dance practitioner. Due to the necessity of creative politics, she delves into other mediums of expression regularly.

Zafar Siddiqui

Yousha Hussain, aged 22 is a model and dancer who teaches art in school. He’s been trained at the Arts Council and has been a part of its projects such as Nach na jaaney angan tera written by Anwar Maqsood

Raam Govind

Raam Govind, 35 years old is an Arts Council trained dancer currently working at Engro. He’s been a part of performance projects such as Nach Na Jaaney Angan Tera at the Arts Council by Anwar Maqsood alongside being a background dancer in the songs Chalawa, and has worked with several artists providing him with a versatile background such as Khurram Taal, Mani Chao and Folk singer Sumaira Ali.

Waqas Shona

Waqas Shona aged 22, is an independent dance instructor trained at the Arts Council who’s worked in the play Nach Na Janey Angan Tera by Anwar Maqsood and has made background appearances in the songs Chawala, Baaji alongside dancing at several weddings. His mentors are Khurram Taal and Sumaira Ali.

Zubi Romi

Zubi Romi, aged 23 is a self taught professional dancer who’s starred in Chawala, Baaji and works in mostly private events.

Rohit Pemoo

Rohit Pemoo, aged 19 is an Arts Council trained dancer who starred in Nach Na Jaaney Angan Tera by Anwar Maqsood amongst other dance performances. His mentors are Khurram Taal, Mani Chao and Sumaira Ali

Sameer Baloch

Sameer Baloch is an independent performer who dances in private events. His mentors are Waqas Baloch and Allah Rakha.

Osama Ameel

Osama Ameel, aged 21 is a self taught professional dancer who’s a Pakistan Star participant. He was the winner of the Karachi Youth Festival held at the Arts Council in 2018.
